W&W
Biography
W&W are a Dutch DJ and production duo of Big Room House from Breda, North Brabant, made up of Wardt van der Harst and Willem Van Hanegem.
They met by chance at the Trance Energy festival in 2007. In less than three years their multifaceted trance sound conquered underground clubs, arenas and festivals worldwide, giving their careers a new dimension.
As producers they started with ‘Ensure’, ‘Show my Shuffle’, ‘Origin’ and ‘Stab My Speaker’. Their first release as W&W was ‘Mustang’, followed by ‘Dome’ and ‘Arena’ — the latter appearing on the Armin Only DVD — which were quickly picked up by trance figures such as Tiësto, Ferry Corsten, Markus Schulz, Sander Van Doorn and Judge Jules.
Tipped by Armin Van Buuren as ‘the best upcoming production duo’, they went on to release ‘Mainstage’, ‘D.N.A’ (remixed by Sean Tyas) and ‘Synergy’ in collaboration with Ummet Ozcan. Their remixes include ‘Rain’ by Armin Van Buuren, ‘Remedy’ by Little Boots, as well as work for Sander van Doorn, Leon Bolier and Sied van Riel.
Their DJ career took off after they heard Sander van Doorn play ‘Mustang’ at Trance Energy. They describe their sound as ‘big room trance with a techy touch’ and have played prestigious events such as the Sunrise Festival in Poland, the A State Of Trance 400 celebrations, and a set alongside Tiësto at his massive concert in Kiev stadium.
They host the monthly radio show ‘Mainstage’ on Afterhours FM, revamped in January 2010; the show features competitions, segments and interviews and airs on the second and fourth Mondays of each month.
