The style Trance

The Trance genre is a major current of electronic music that emerged in the early 1990s, mainly in Germany, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. Born from the meeting of techno, house, acid house, and certain new age or synth-pop influences, Trance is characterized by its airy melodies, synthesizer pads, progressive buildups, and immersive atmosphere. Its name refers to the hypnotic and emotional effect sought, with music designed to plunge the listener into a true state of trance.

Trance is not a subgenre of techno or house, but a genre in its own right that developed in parallel from shared roots. It nevertheless maintains close ties with these styles, while standing out through a more melodic, more emotional, and often more epic approach. Over time, Trance has given birth to many subgenres such as Uplifting Trance, Vocal Trance, Progressive Trance, Goa Trance, and Psytrance.

The style was popularized by artists such as Paul Van Dyk, Armin Van Buuren, Tiรซsto, ATB, Cosmic Gate, Ferry Corsten, Dash Berlin or Above and Beyond. With its long progressions, emotional breakdowns, and energy that is both euphoric and soaring, Trance remains one of the most iconic genres on the global electronic scene.
