Kyau Versus Albert

Kyau Versus Albert

Biography

Kyau & Albert is the working name of two German Trance producers and DJs: Ralph Kyau and Steven Moebius Albert. They were previously known as Kyau vs. Albert, but switched their working name to Kyau & Albert in 2006.

Ralph Kyau first got involved with electronic music production in 1990 and built a reputation through DJing and Live PA sets at underground Techno parties across Germany. He released his first record, Modulation Experiments, at the end of 1993. That same year, together with DJ Shandy, he founded the label Harmony Recordings, signing Mirco de Govia as its first act.

In parallel, Steven Moebius Albert began producing his own tracks and first met Ralph Kyau in the summer of 1994. After creating their first tracks for a live performance, they decided to produce together; their first joint single, Let me in, was released in 1996. In 1997, their two small studios merged and they founded the production company Euphonic, signing Sonorous (a.k.a. Rough Mullar) as well as Ronski Speed.

In 2000, Kyau vs Albert was recognized by WEA (Warner Music), leading to a long-term contract and broader momentum in dance music, supported by DJs such as Paul Van Dyk and Tiësto. In 2002, Sun Decade (one of Ronski Speed’s aliases) was released on Euphonic, alongside the track I'm Alone.

In March 2012, Kyau & Albert released the album 15 Years to mark 15 years in the industry, featuring popular tracks remixed by a selected group of contemporary Trance artists along with brand new material. The duo also appeared in DJ Magazine’s annual Top 100 DJs poll for four consecutive years (2007–2010).
