Biography

Ferry Corsten is a Dutch DJ, producer, and label owner, born on December 4, 1973, in Rotterdam. He is the older brother of Robbert Corsten.

His career began in 1991 with the production of underground hardcore gabber tracks, before expanding to house and trance. His style is not limited to a single genre and encompasses several facets of electronic music.

He was voted Producer of the Year at the Ericsson Muzik Awards in London in 1999. The following year, he received the Best Remix award for Adagio for Strings (Ferry Corsten Remix) at the Dancestar 2000 awards.

In 1997, he co-founded the famous label Tsunami with Robert Smit and the German company Purple Eye Entertainment, which he left in 2005 to launch his own structure, Flashover Recordings. The first single on this label was Who's Knockin'? with a Flashover remix, followed by Fire.

He has collaborated with numerous renowned artists, including Tiësto, Benny Benassi, and Vincent de Moor. With Tijs Verwest (DJ Tiësto), he created the projects Gouryella and Vimana. With Vincent de Moor, he formed the one-off project Veracocha. With Benny Benassi, he produced under the alias FB/FB feat. Edun.

His career is marked by a multitude of aliases and projects. Among his most notable pseudonyms are Moonman, Albion, System F, Pulp Victim, Free Inside, and Veracocha. Other aliases include Digital Control, Exiter, Funk Einsatz, Eon (2), A Jolly Good Fellow, Ferr, Zenithal, Sidewinder (2), DotNL, 4×4, Kinky Toys, Dance Therapy, Party Cruiser, Raya Shaku, Bypass (4), Skywalker (4), The Nutter, Firmly Undaground, Cyber F, Delaquente, Lunalife, Farinha, Tom Pulse, DJ Sno-White, and East Vs. West.

He has also been involved in other groups such as Alter Native, Blade Racer, Discodroids, Double Dutch, Elektrika, Energiya, Fernick, Mind To Mind, Nixieland, Penetrator, Project Aurora, Riptide, Roef, S.O.A., Scum, Selected Worx, Sons of Aliens, Soundcheck, Spirit of Adventure, Starparty, and The Tellurians.

His remix of the Prison Break Theme (Ferry Corsten Breakout Mix) gained notoriety due to the success of the TV series. With the exception of Gouryella, which he maintains alone since Tijs’ departure, he no longer uses his other aliases.

He has compiled and mixed numerous series, notably the Trance Nation collection for Ministry of Sound, including Trance Nation 2002. He also created mixes for Creamfields, Tsunami One, Dance Valley 2001, Passport: Kingdom of the Netherlands, Mixed Live: Spundae @ Circus Los Angeles, Live at Innercity, as well as World Tour editions.

His solo discography includes the albums Looking Forward (under the name Ferr, with John Matze, 1996), Out Of The Blue (under the name System F, 2001), Right of Way (2003), Together (under the name System F, 2003), L.E.F. (Loud, Electronic, Ferocious) (2006), and Twice In A Blue Moon (2008). The L.E.F. concept also gave its name to a series of events.
