Italobrothers
Biography
Italobrothers are a German Dance project from Nordhorn, Lower Saxony, formed in November 2005. The project consists of producers Zacharias Adrian (“Zachi”) and Kristian Sandberg (“Kris”), with vocalist Matthias Metten (“Matze”). Because of their name, they are often mistakenly assumed to be an Italian group.
Their sound is often compared to Italian Dance projects such as Bloom 06, Prezioso feat. Marvin, Floorfilla, Gigi D'agostino and Gabry Ponte, which made them well known within the Italian dance community. They are signed to Zooland Records, a label that also includes Cascada and Tune Up!.
In 2009 they scored worldwide success with Stamp On The Ground, described as a “Made in Germany” dance mega-hit. The single went gold in Denmark, reached the top 20 in Norway, and became a regular top-20 entry on dance charts across the German-speaking region. The music video has reached 70 million views.
Originally inspired by Italo dance, their story is presented as an expedition through different genres and countries, driven since 2005 by the collaboration between the two producers and the singer.
Their momentum continued in 2013 with This Is Nightlife. In 2015, producer Hanno Lohse, aka Cody Island, joined the team and immediately contributed to Springfield, created in collaboration with DJ and producer Martin Tungevaag; the track achieved triple platinum status.
The follow-up single, Summer Air, drew heavily on tropical house and future bass. Its 2017 re-release reached the top 5 in Scandinavia and the top 10 in German-speaking countries, earning multiple platinum certifications in Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland, plus gold in Germany; it also reached 135 million plays on Spotify.
Alongside producing and performing, Italobrothers also work as remixers for other acts, including Cascada and Floorfilla. Their tracks are typically available on vinyl, as legal downloads, or via various German and Italian Dance compilations.
