Gabry Ponte
Biography
Gabriele Ponte, known as Gabry Ponte, is an Italian DJ and producer born on 20 April 1973 in Turin.
His career began early: at 17 he was already a very popular DJ in Turin and in several clubs. A demo caught the attention of the Blisscorporation label, where he stayed eight years and produced more than a hundred tracks, bringing him international recognition.
In 1999 he founded the dance group Eiffel 65 with Maurizio Lobina and Jeffrey Jey, which achieved worldwide fame with hits like Blue (Da Ba Dee) and Move Your Body. He was also involved in projects such as Bliss Team, DJ Gundam and Sangwara.
In November 2001 he began a solo career with Got to Get, which reached number one on the charts and received heavy rotation on major Italian stations like Radio Deejay and Discoradio. Two months later Time to Rock confirmed this success, becoming even more popular on radio and in clubs.
In 2002 he released Geordie, a cover of Fabrizio de André, and his self-titled debut album. In summer 2003 he produced one of his best-known remixes, Giulia, followed by the single La Danza Delle Streghe. He also remixed Haiducii and the hit Dragostea Din Tei, before releasing Figli Di Pitagora.
His second studio album, Dottor Jekkyl & Mister DJ, was released in summer 2004; in spring 2005 he issued the mixed compilation DJ Set Compilation. That year he announced his departure from Eiffel 65 to focus on his solo career.
From January to August 2006 he hosted Disco Ball on Radio Deejay and composed La Liberta. He then joined the station m2o to present the weekly show Tribe. Singles that year included Elektro Muzik is Back and U.N.D.E.R.G.R.O.U.N.D., the latter accompanied by a video; these tracks were compiled on the vinyl and CDS Modern Tech Noises According to Gabry Ponte.
Early 2007 he released the CDM The Point of No Return with a clip, then the vinyl and CDM Love Songs in the Digital Age According to Gabry Ponte. He is also the founder of the label Dance And Love.
