Scooter

Biography

Scooter is a German electronic music group formed in Hamburg in 1993. The original lineup consisted of singer H. P. Baxxter, musician Rick J. Jordan and Ferris Bueller, with Jens Thele as manager. Over their career the group has sold more than 30 million records and earned over 80 gold and platinum awards; they have 23 singles that reached the top ten, making them one of Germany’s most commercially successful singles acts.

Their signature sound mixes spoken or shouted vocals, pitch-shifted choruses and live-performance elements such as crowd samples. Their early recordings were mainly happy hardcore and hard trance, and later they explored other electronic styles including hands up, techno, trance, hardstyle and jumpstyle.

Notable tracks include Hyper Hyper, Move Your Ass!, Fire, How Much Is the Fish?, Ramp! (The Logical Song), Nessaja, Weekend!, Maria (I Like It Loud), One (Always Hardcore) and Jumping All Over the World.

The group’s lineup evolved over the years, organized into “chapters”. After the departures of Ferris Bueller and Axel Coon, Rick J. Jordan remained until 2013. Michael Simon joined in 2007 and Sebastian Schilde in 2019; both announced their departure in December 2022. Since 2023, at the start of the seventh chapter, the lineup comprises H. P. Baxxter on vocals, musician and producer Marc Blou, DJ and producer Jay Frog (a member between 2002 and 2006), with Jens Thele still as manager.

The band has released numerous studio albums, including …and the Beat Goes On! (1995), Our Happy Hardcore (1996), The Stadium Techno Experience (2003), Jumping All Over the World (2007), God Save the Rave (2021) and Open Your Mind and Your Trousers (2024).
