Brooklyn Bounce
Biography
Brooklyn Bounce is a German dance duo formed in 1996, consisting of producers Matthias Menck (alias Double M) and Dennis Bohn (alias D-Bone); both are from Hamburg and have collaborated since 1995.
Their first success came under the pseudonym Boyz R Us with the single Singin’ In My Mind. In 1996 they debuted as Brooklyn Bounce with the track The Theme (of Progressive Attack), whose success laid the groundwork for their first album, The Beginning. They went on to score hits such as Get Ready to Bounce, Bass, Beats & Melody and Loud & Proud, achieving multiple entries in the German charts and earning gold and platinum records worldwide.
Menck and Bohn work exclusively in the studio and do not perform on stage; the act has been represented live by various singers and dancers collaborating with the two producers over the years, including René “Diablo” Behrens (formerly of the group 666), Ulrika Bohn, Alejandra Cuevas-Moreno and Stephan “Damon” Zschoppe. The vocalists were credited only on the single Bass, Beats and Melody, released in November 2000.
The duo released ten albums on the Sony BMG and Edel Records labels. In 2006, Mental Madness Records issued the album System Shock (The Lost Album 1999), which contains some of their early recordings and is available only in digital format. In January 2011 their eleventh album, BB-Styles, compiled all their singles from 1996 to 2006, supplemented by new remixes from artists such as Headhunterz, Technoboy, Empyre One and Thomas Petersen, and was accompanied by a special DVD.
