Nick Skitz

Biography

Nick Skitz, born Nicholas Agamalis, is an Australian dance DJ and producer whose career began in the early 1990s.

He became one of the most recognized figures on the Australian scene as a DJ, remixer and producer, helping to create a period of commercial Hi-NRG and Eurodance in Australia; his remixes and megamixes—now his trademark—along with his own productions made him highly popular.

His compilation series Skitzmix, known for remixes and megamixes of popular dance tracks, became the best-selling DJ compilation series in Australia. He also appeared on compilations from the Ministry of Sound label and the Wild series.

Among his notable successes, the track The Ultimate reached number 2 on the UK dance charts. His first pop hit, Slave to the Music (a cover of an original by Twenty 4 Seven), entered the Australian top 20 in November 2003.

In 2004 he teamed up with Mark Gable, lead singer of Australian rock band The Choirboys, to reinterpret their 1987 number-one hit Run to Paradise as a dance track. Released as Nick Skitz vs. The Choirboys, the song debuted in the Australian pop top 20 in July 2004, with a remix by Jason Nevins.

His musical expertise also extends to audio mastering: he has worked for international record companies, provided remix services for DJs and mastered dance compilations.
