Biography

Tramar Lacel Dillard, born September 16 or 17, 1979 in Miami, Florida, is an American rapper and singer better known by his stage name Flo Rida.

He grew up in the public housing projects of Carol City, Florida, raised by his single mother along with seven sisters. As a teenager he worked with the local rap group 2 Live Crew and formed the amateur group Groundhoggz. After high school he briefly studied international business management before returning to Florida to pursue music after signing in 2006 with the independent label Poe Boy Entertainment.

His first notable appearance was on the song Bitch I'm from Dade County from DJ Khaled’s album We the Best (2006). As Flo Rida he collaborated with other Florida rappers such as Rick Ross, Trina, T-Pain and Trick Daddy.

He achieved worldwide success with his first official single, Low (feat. T-Pain), from his debut album Mail on Sunday, released in March 2008; the song spent ten weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100. The album also produced the singles Elevator (with Timbaland) and In the Ayer (with Will.I. Am).

His second album, R.O.O.T.S. (2009), was led by the single Right Round (feat. Ke$ha), which remained number one on the Hot 100 for six weeks. He later released the albums Only One Flo (Part 1) and Wild Ones.

Throughout his career Flo Rida has also made numerous collaborations, appearing on tracks by artists such as DJ Laz, Michelle Williams, Madonna, Jessica Mauboy, DJ Felli Fel and again Rick Ross.
