DJ Shog

Biography

Sven Holger Greiner, known as DJ Shog, was a German trance DJ and producer, born in Hamburg on 8 November 1976 and deceased on 15 December 2022.
His stage name is an acronym of his real name: Sven Holger Greiner.

He developed an interest in electronic music and DJing in the mid-1990s.
After starting on school and private parties, his participation in several DJ contests led to his first residencies in northern Germany.

His entry onto the international scene was marked by the launch of his double-CD compilation series “Technics-DJ-Set”: one CD mixed by him and the other by guests such as Cosmic Gate, Dumonde, Talla 2XLC or Green Court.
The series evolved to showcase his two musical facets: the more mainstream trance/hardtrance sound as DJ Shog and progressive trance under the alias 2Faces.

This duality was already present on the mix-CD “Trance Visions” (2004), with a “Main-Floor” CD and a “Trance-Floor” CD.
It materialized on singles like “Running Water”, which featured an alternative 2Faces mix: the original version became a bestseller in Germany while the 2Faces mix was played by major DJs such as Paul Van Dyk and Tiësto.
The 2Faces mix of “Kindervater Sternenweg 5” also enjoyed significant international success.

DJ Shog was involved in numerous projects: with the E-Cutz team he composed three anthems for the Nature One festival — “Summer Sound System 2002”, “Alive&Kickin 2003” and “The Golden 10 2004”.
He also originated the “Dream Dance Alliance” project, producing the anthems for the Dream Dance compilations and creating club anthems like “Bells of Heaven” and “Ayers Rock”.

A sought-after remixer, he worked for artists such as DJ Sammy, Cappella, CJ Stone, Three Drives, Ayumi Hamasaki, DJ Tatana, Ian Van Dahl, Lasgo, Ernesto vs. Bastian and Filo and Peri.

His reputation was consolidated by countless performances at major events and festivals like Nature One, Streetparade, Love Parade, G-Move, Energy, Nautilus, Goliath, MDR Sputnik Turntabledays and Airbeat One.
These experiences brought him to an international standard and built a global network, leading him to travel constantly to share his music.

In mid-2005 he founded his own label, 7th Sense Records, which served as a platform for his productions and those of his collaborators.
