Biography

DJ Sammy is a Spanish DJ and producer from Palma de Mallorca, born on 19 October 1969. A veteran of electronic dance music, he began his musical career in 1984 in Mallorca clubs such as Zorba’s, and also worked as a DJ for the Cadena Top radio station.

His breakthrough began in 1991 after meeting singer Maria José. In November 1995, they released DJ Sammy’s first single together, Life Is Just a Game, which became a top 10 hit in Spain. Other singles such as You're My Angel and Prince of Love later found success in Germany. His debut album, *Life Is Just a Game*, was released in June 1998.

He founded his own dance music label, Super M Records, as well as the company Gamba Music Company. His global breakthrough came in 2001 with the single Heaven, a cover of a song by Bryan Adams performed with Dutch singer Do. The track became a huge hit across Europe and Australia, selling over 2 million records, before reaching No. 2 in the US and No. 1 in the UK in 2002.

He followed up with a remake of Boys of Summer by Don Henley, which reached No. 2 on the UK charts. Other singles such as Sunlight, Rise Again and a cover of Why by Annie Lennox also reached the UK top 10.

In the mid-2000s, he moved back to Mallorca with his studio after selling more than 20 million copies of his productions worldwide. He also focused on producing for other artists, bringing his “magic touch” to projects for David Bisbal, Chenoa, Marta Sánchez, Soraya, as well as a full album for Nuria Fergó in 2009.

In 2009, he signed again with the Ministry of Sound label for the release of a new album. He is also a major supporter of the `MyClubRoom` platform, a music web-TV concept centered on club events around the world.
