Dhany

Biography

Born Daniela Galli on 23 October 1972 in Reggio nell’Emilia, Dhany is regarded as one of the best white soul voices on the dance scene.

She began singing in 1993 and performed for three years in major Italian clubs as frontwoman of renowned funk and acid-jazz groups. In 1995 she joined the Off Limits label and collaborated with the studio project Kmc to produce the singles “Somebody to touch me” and “Street life”, which reached high positions in European club charts.

At the same time she worked as a singer-songwriter and backing vocalist for many well-known Italian artists and performed in several major musicals.

Her first solo single, “DHA DHA TUNE” (1997), confirmed her identity on the international dance scene. In 1999 the single “QUIERO RESPIRAR”, in which she alternates English and Spanish, became a hit in South America. Her third single, “Shut up”, also met club success.

In 2000 she performed “I WANNA BE FREE”, the debut single of the Mumm team. She reunited with Kmc in 2001 for “I feel so fine”, which dominated global club charts and entered the UK sales chart.

Throughout her career, Dhany has been active as a songwriter, writing for Whigfield, Ann Lee, In-Grid and Benny Benassi.

From 2004 she collaborated with the Benassi Bros., co-writing most tracks on the album “PumPhonia” and performing the single “Hit My Heart”, a mega-hit in France where the album was certified gold. She then toured many countries in 2005.

After being featured on Benassi Bros. tracks such as “Make me feel” and “Every single day”, she returned with a new solo single, “Miles of Love”, produced by Benny Benassi and Alle Benassi.
