Ann Lee

Biography

Ann Lee, whose real name is Annerley Gordon, was born on 12 November 1972 in Sheffield, England.

After a holiday in Italy she decided to settle there, charmed by the cuisine and the sunshine. While singing for fun with friends in a nightclub she was spotted by a talent scout. She passed an audition to become a backing singer and began working as a session vocalist.

Encouraged by positive feedback on her voice, she launched a solo career and turned to renowned dance producer Larry Pignagnoli, recording a studio test on a track he was working on with arranger Marco Soncini. The result was the song 2 Times, a debut single with striking international success: it reached number one in Denmark, number two in the United Kingdom and in Belgium, and entered the Top 10 in many countries such as France, Germany, Austria, Australia, New Zealand, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway and Eastern Europe, earning numerous gold and platinum records.

Her second single, Voices, climbed into the Top 10 in Spain, Denmark and the Czech Republic, and entered the UK Top 30 upon its release in February 2000. This was followed by an upbeat cover of Ring My Bell, released across Europe while 2 Times was enjoying major success in Canada.

Her debut album, titled Dreams, achieved solid commercial success worldwide. The fourth single from that album, So Deep, showcased her distinctive vocal abilities. Ann Lee later returned with the dance track No No No, a catchy anthem played around the world.

Before performing as Ann Lee, Annerley Gordon began singing and writing for the Italian label A.Beat-C of Giancarlo Pasquini from 1990, contributing to numerous Italo dance tracks.
