Whigfield
Biography
Whigfield is an Italian dance music project led by Danish singer-songwriter and producer Sannie Charlotte Carlson (born 11 April 1970), who also performs under the stage names Sannie and Naan. The project is best known for the 1993 single Saturday Night, which achieved international success in 1994.
Based in Italy, Sannie Carlson collaborated with Italian producers Larry Pignagnoli and Davide Riva. Their track Saturday Night reached the top five in Italy and became the first foreign act to debut directly at number one on the UK charts, a record noted by the Guinness Book of Records.
Other singles such as Sexy Eyes, Another Day and Think of You also found success. Another Day notably reached number three in Italy and charted in the top ten in the UK, Switzerland, Norway and Denmark, as did Think of You.
In 2018, Sannie Carlson took part in the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix with the song Boys on Girls, failing to qualify for the superfinal.
