Dennis Sheperd

Biography

Dennis Sheperd, whose real name is Dennis Schäfer, was born in September 1985 in Essen, Germany.

He discovered electronic music in 1998, an interest that became a passion. In 2004, with no prior musical knowledge, he began creating his own music.

His name rose on the scene in 2007 with the track A Tribute to Life, supported by leading DJs such as Tiësto, Ferry Corsten, Armin Van Buuren, Paul Van Dyk and Markus Schulz. This success led to a signing with Euphonic Records; its founders, Kyau & Albert, called him ‘the most promising newcomer in Germany in Progressive Trance’.

He confirmed this status in 2009 with several hits, including Black Sun. The same year he collaborated with tyDi and vocalist Marcie on Somehow for Armada Music, and with Cold Blue on Freefalling for High Contrast.

Those three tracks helped him build a large fanbase and earn regular play in clubs and radio worldwide; his success resulted in numerous international performances and the award ‘The Best New Artist 2010’ bestowed by his hometown, Essen.

Encouraged by this recognition, he began producing his debut album in 2010, working with several singers and songwriters for a planned release on High Contrast. He also produced a mix for Gareth Emery‘s remix album, who had already identified him in 2008 as ‘a name to watch’.

Dennis Sheperd has worked with labels such as Captured Music, DeepBlue Recordings, Baroque Records, Scream And Shout Recordings and AVA Recordings.
