Roger Shah
Biography
Roger Shah (born Roger-Pierre Shah) is a German electronic music composer, producer and DJ. He began his career in 1996 and regularly reaches the top 10 of the German dance charts.
His first solo release, the 1999 single “Claps”, entered the top 5 of all European dance charts, drawing the attention of the continent’s leading DJs. In 2005, he made his debut on Tiësto’s Black Hole label with the project “Shah & Laruso pres. Global Experience”, after releasing other tracks on major international labels such as Ministry Of Sound UK and Ultra USA. The same year, he reached No. 23 in the UK sales charts with the Commander Tom project.
Roger Shah is the only German producer to have contributed to Tiësto’s ISOS5 compilation. He then signed with Armada for his solo single “Beautiful (Glimpse Of Heaven)”, a collaboration with Jan Johnston, as well as for a second project called Sunlounger.
Under the Sunlounger alias, he released the album “Another Day on The Terrace” in 2007, which reached No. 1 across all music categories on the iTunes charts in the Netherlands. His “Savannah” project was also signed to Black Hole.
He also collaborated with Armin Van Buuren on “Going Wrong” featuring Chris Jones, which entered the Dutch singles chart directly at No. 5. He performed the track live at the “Armin Only” solo concert.
Together with his brother, the artist Pedro Del Mar, he hosted the German radio show “Mellomania”, producing 14 double-CD compilations under that name. He now presents his own show, “Music for Balearic People”, which he founded, every Friday on DI.FM.
Known for his Balearic & Melodic Trance style, orchestral film music, Ambient/Chillout and Deep House, Roger Shah is the co-founder of the Shah-Music label with his brother Patrick Shah, and the owner of Magic Island Records, a former Shah-Music sub-division that has since become an integral part of Black Hole Recordings.
