Wippenberg

Wippenberg

Biography

Wippenberg is the project of German producer and DJ Olaf Dieckmann. It began in 1995 with the release of Neurodancer on the German underground label Hyper Hype Records, a track that became an internationally recognized club anthem.

The project truly took off in 1999 when he was asked to remix Castles in the Sky. The success of that remix drew the attention of major artists such as ATB and Blank & Jones, for whom he created remixes of Let U Go and Nightclubbing, respectively. These works helped cement his reputation for a distinctive “uplifting” sound and led to many further remix requests, notably for Fragma, Marc et Claude, and the legendary Tiësto.

In May 2003, Olaf Dieckmann founded his own label, Touched By Sound Records. In late 2003 he released the Wippenberg Elemental EP 1/2, including Fire and Water, which was very well received by many international DJs.

Over the course of his career, Dieckmann was also part of the dance act Aquagen and was signed to High Contrast Recordings, where he developed a more progressive sound. He also briefly ran his own label, Get Wipped! Records, accompanied by a podcast of the same name.

Alongside Wippenberg, he worked as a studio engineer and occasional co-producer for the duo Cosmic Gate. After a break from music production and a withdrawal from social media starting in 2014, he returned in late 2024 with a hard trance and hands up project named FYAR. However, as early as 2025, he decided to once again continue his solo career under the name Wippenberg.

Olaf Dieckmann is also known under the aliases Sphaera, Olaf Dieckmann (for releases under his real name), Nomenklatura, and FYAR. The Wippenberg project is associated with trance, progressive trance, and hard house.
