Biography

DCX is a Finnish eurodance group formed in 1997, described as an intergalactic stylistic meeting between electro/club and europop.

On stage the group consists of three members: lead singer Bettina Hammarsten, leader Joel Kalsi (aka Jole) and Olli Lintuniemi on keyboards; a fourth member, Ari Myllymäki, primarily co-produces in studio and occasionally joins live shows.

Bettina, who debuted in the semi-finals of Finnish Idols, joined the group after catching Joel Kalsi’s attention through the show. Olli had known Joel since the 1990s and had previously collaborated with him on earlier projects.

The group gained public recognition with Flying High, written by Joel as early as 1998: the track amassed millions of downloads and streams worldwide, spent nearly a year (2005–2006) on the Finnish Disco Chart and reached number one on the Finnish Club Chart.

Later DCX obtained permission from ABBA to record a cover of Knowing Me, Knowing You, which entered the Finnish singles top 5; this success followed their earlier singles Hold Me and Poor Romeo, which had also reached the top 5.

Their debut album included other singles such as Fortune & Fate and Don't Break My Heart, as well as a promo single, I Feel Like You, produced in collaboration with the German dance group X-Perience.

In 2012, DCX participated in Finland’s Eurovision selection with Erase You, ranking #5, #2 and #1 in public polls among 540 candidates; the song’s video quickly surpassed 100000 views on YouTube.

The band is known for energetic live shows, a trademark of theirs. DCX has opened for many big names such as Darude, Scooter, Basshunter, September, Ian Van Dahl, Fragma and Groove Coverage, among many others.
