Bassjackers
Biography
Bassjackers are a Dutch DJ and production duo of electronic music from Waalwijk in North Brabant, made up of Marlon Flohr and Ralph van Hilst, who joined forces in early 2007 by combining a passion for DJing with production experiments in house music.
Their first track, Beat Cut, released on the Sneakerz Muzik label, quickly drew attention thanks to support from Dutch DJs such as Don Diablo, Erick E and Fedde le Grand. It was followed by tracks like Juicy Lucy — a club and radio hit on stations such as 3FM — and then Enowapi, Klambu and Sujo. Their collaboration with Dj Jorn, the track 16, also drew interest and was signed to Sidney Samson’s Samsobeats label.
They are also known for their remixes, reworking productions by artists such as Ron Carrol, Ian Carey and Sidney Samson for labels like 4Kenzo, Spinnin and Kingdom Kome Cuts. Their remixes for Gregor Salto, Giorgio Giordano and Real el Canario all reached number one on the dancetunes portal. They also co-produced with Quintino the remix of Rap das armas, which reached the top of the Dutch Top 40.
Their productions quickly found their way into the sets of many international DJs, from Roger Sanchez to Chuckie, including Laidback Luke and Mark Knight. At the same time their DJ career progressed, leading to a residency within the Dutch house concept Nope is Dope and performances in the country’s biggest clubs, including a notable event at the MECC hallen.
