York

Biography

York is a German electronic music duo founded in 1997 by brothers Torsten Stenzel and Jörg Stenzel.

Specializing in trance, downtempo and house, the duo is known for catchy guitar melodies and delicate textures, often blending electronic elements with acoustic instruments.

Torsten Stenzel, classically trained on piano from the age of five, turned to electronic production in the early 1990s; a highly sought-after producer, he has collaborated with Tina Turner, Jennifer Paige, All Saints, Moby, Faithless and ATB. His more than twenty years of experience include several gold and platinum records, an Echo Awards nomination and over three million records sold.

Jörg Stenzel, a guitarist inspired by Jimi Hendrix and Carlos Santana, contributes the distinctive guitar parts that are a key element of York’s sound; he initiated the collaboration with his brother to fuse guitar anthems with house and trance grooves.

Their notable tracks include On The Beach, The Awakening and Reachers Of Civilisation. They have also worked with artists such as Roger Shah, Schiller, Taucher and Dj Sakin & Friends.
