Mauro Picotto
Biography
Mauro Picotto, born 25 December 1966 in Cavour, Italy, is a producer, remixer and electronic music DJ.
He grew up in the music industry within Media Records and the Media Studio in the early 1990s and first became known as a contributor to the Italian eurodance group Cappella. In the late 1990s he achieved solo success with “Lizard”, “Komodo (Save a Soul)”, “Pulsar”, “Iguana” and “Proximus”.
He has collaborated with many renowned trance and electronic artists, notably Tiësto. In the early 2000s he left the Media Studio to run his own recording studios.
Since 2003 he has focused mainly on his DJ career, traveling the world to perform at festivals and mega-clubs, and promoting events under his own brand, Meganite, named after one of his early-2000s tracks.
These Meganite nights, which he describes as an “electronic music lifestyle”, take place in cities such as London, Miami, Turin, Glasgow, New York and Montreal; the flagship event takes place every Wednesday during the summer season at the Privilege club in Ibiza, where he can mix for extended hours and select the DJs who join him.
His musical style evolved into a fusion of minimal funky while retaining the technical and melodic elements that have always been his trademark; he frequently produces his own music tailored to the atmosphere of those nights.
He releases music on his own label, Bakerloo. In 2007 he opened a new chapter with the SWrecords label, marking his return to the studio and the release of the album ‘Now & Then’, the DVD ‘Live On Tour’ and singles from the album.
Recent highlights include hosting Meganite in Ibiza — including a closing party where he mixed for ten hours — tours in the United States and South America for the DVD production, a performance alongside The Prodigy in Los Angeles, and a set for more than 50,000 people in Turin at the Universiadi closing.
