Biography

Sasha Lopez, whose real name is Sergiu Istrati, is a DJ, producer, and singer-songwriter born on 17 October 1980 in Chișinău, Republic of Moldova.

He studied at the music school in his hometown before earning a degree in management from the Academy of Economics. He started his DJ career at the age of 15 at the Star Track Club in Chișinău. He then became a resident at City, the city’s most famous club, where he performed for eight years. In 2005, he released his first CD mix, titled “Club City Presents”.

That same year, meeting Dj Nash led to the creation of the Studio One project. In 2006, the singer Tanya joined as vocalist, a collaboration that has continued ever since. Studio One quickly gained strong recognition in Romania before achieving international success. The single Everytime, composed by Sasha Lopez and Tanya, became a major hit in Bulgaria, Hungary, Serbia, Poland, and Russia, and was included on a Ministry of Sound compilation in 2008.

The project has also collaborated with several Romanian artists from the electronic scene, including Tom Boxer on Lose Control, Fly Project on Wonder Girl, Vali Barbulescu on Send Your Love, and more recently Edward Maya on Out of Love.

Sasha Lopez is run in collaboration with a key figure in Romania’s electronic and house music scene, Vanotek, known as the co-producer of tracks such as Chica Bomb by Dan Balan, Beautiful Day by Tom Boxer, Get Up by Naguale, and Guale by Angelika Vee.

With extensive DJ experience, the act performs many shows in Romania and across Europe.
