Richard Beynon

Biography

Richard Glenmor Beynon, known by the stage name Bynon (stylized BYNON), is a British-Canadian music producer and DJ.

From a family of musicians originating in South Wales (United Kingdom), he grew up in Vancouver, British Columbia. A multi-instrumentalist (guitar, bass, keyboards, piano, drums), he was also a clarinet prodigy before moving into DJing, production, and songwriting.

He studied at the Langley Fine Arts School, the Juilliard School, and McGill University. He performed with the Surrey Youth Orchestra and the Vancouver Summer Pops Youth Orchestra, and won a gold medal at the Fraser Valley Kiwanis International Music Festival.

Working with his father, he arranged and produced three successful albums spanning multiple genres, including classical, jazz, and pop.

As a live performer, Bynon toured across North America and played extensively in Europe and Asia. Notable appearances include the Paradiso festival at The Gorge near Seattle, a four-year Las Vegas residency with the Pool Party REHAB and SLS events, and in 2018 the ÎleSoniq festival in Montréal.

In 2014, his early releases alongside Dannic, Project 46, and Feenixpawl saw his name appear regularly in Beatport’s top 10, including Golden Hearts, Eyes, and Home, released via Revealed, Ultra Records, and Atlantic.

In late 2015, his version of Ganja Man with Sean Paul went viral on YouTube, surpassing 23 million views. In early 2016, he shifted his focus primarily to writing and production, collaborating with Sean Paul, Kaskade, Ilsey, Taryn Manning, Mako, and Jane XØ, and contributing to major projects for Columbia, Atlantic, Sony, and Warner Music.

Corey Hart commissioned him to co-write and produce Jonathan Roy’s second album, “Mr. Optimist Blues,” which included the gold-certified hit “Daniella Denmark.” He has also co-written numerous iTunes number-one albums and singles, and released multiple solo tracks and remixes in 2018.
