Lmfao
Biography
LMFAO was an American electronic music duo formed in 2006 in Los Angeles, consisting of Redfoo (Stefan Kendal Gordy) and SkyBlu (Skyler Husten Gordy). Both are related to Berry Gordy, the founder of Motown: Redfoo is his son and SkyBlu his grandson, making them uncle and nephew.
The name LMFAO, an acronym for “Laughing My Fucking Ass Off”, was inspired by an online conversation with SkyBlu’s grandmother, who used that expression when they were considering calling themselves “Sexy Dudes”. Their music, which they describe as “party rock”, focuses on themes of partying and alcohol, blending eurodance and electro-hop.
The group released their first EP, “Party Rock EP”, in July 2008, with the hit single I'm in Miami Bitch, which became an anthem for partygoers and was used as the theme song for the reality TV show “Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami”. In 2009, they released their debut album, “Party Rock”, and planned to release a second studio album, “Don’t Judge Me”, in late 2010.
Their collaborations include remixes for Kanye West (Love Lockdown) and Lady Gaga (LoveGame), as well as contributions to tracks by David Guetta (Gettin' Over You) and Lil Jon (Outta Your Mind). Their song Get Crazy served as the theme song for the MTV show “Jersey Shore”.
Nominated for a Grammy Award in 2009 for Best Electronic/Dance Album, LMFAO undertook tours such as the “Party Rock Tour” in 2009 and a tour with the Black Eyed Peas in spring 2010.
Beyond music, LMFAO launched a clothing line called Party Rock, available online, and created a social networking site for their community.
