Chris Willis

Biography

Chris Willis, born Christopher Kevin Willis, is an American singer, songwriter and producer, born on February 26, 1969 in Dayton, Ohio.

His recording career began in 1992 as a vocalist on the album “Handel’s Messiah: A Soulful Celebration”. He is best known to the general public as the distinctive male voice on numerous collaborations with French DJ and producer David Guetta, a creative partnership that began in 2001.

David Guetta chose him as the lead singer for his very first single, Just a Little More Love. They continued recording together and their working relationship evolved, with Willis moving from singer and songwriter roles to broader contributions.

Chris Willis’s powerful, soulful and authentic voice propelled many dance and Top 40 hits, including the global 2007 hit Love Is Gone, which topped international charts, and Everytime We Touch, a Top 10 success in Europe.

In a dance landscape often dominated by divas, Willis established himself as a rare male vocalist to achieve such success. He is featured on Guetta’s fourth album “One Love” (2010), alongside guests such as Kelly Rowland, Ne-Yo, Akon and Estelle.

Willis sees this expanded collaboration as a potential shift in how electronic music is perceived, notably in the United States: the fact that R&B and pop superstars now seek to work with electro DJs is, in his view, a major turning point that demonstrates the universal appeal and pure energy of the dance scene.
