Jax Jones

Biography

Timucin Fabian Kwong Wah Aluo, born 25 July 1987 and known professionally as Jax Jones, is a British multi-instrumentalist, record producer, songwriter and DJ.

He is best known for his contribution to Duke Dumont’s 2014 single I Got U, which reached number one on the UK Singles Chart, and for his own 2017 single You Don't Know Me, featuring Raye. He is currently signed to Duke Dumont’s label.

The son of two teachers, he grew up in a multi-ethnic household: his Nigerian stepfather introduced him to afrobeat via Fela Kuti and to rap through a cassette of an album by Biggie Smalls. He was exposed to hip-hop, R&B, gospel and traditional African music.

Producers such as The Neptunes, Timbaland and Rodney Jerkins shaped his musical outlook and his fascination with the anatomy of a rhythm section. After studying classical guitar from a young age, he began making beats at 15, having discovered Cubase on a friend’s Atari.
