Biography
Ela Rose (born Manuela Chereji) is a Romanian singer, born on 4 January 1990 in Ştei (Bihor County). Active since 2008, she works within Dance, House, Euro-house, electronic music, Pop and dance-pop, with vocals as her instrument.
In 2008, while performing at Zilele orașului Ștei, she was noticed by Romanian producer and DJ David Deejay, who invited her to his studio. He became her producer and manager and also gave her the stage name. Her debut single, I Can Feel, was released in March 2009; its video premiered live on Radio21 in June 2009. The track quickly became a hit, received heavy radio rotation, and was named “Piesa anului 2009” by Vibe FM. The video was shot in Budapest and directed by Dragoș Buliga. Internationally, the song was aired by radio stations in several European countries and was included in a Ministry of Sound playlist.
After graduating from Colegiul Național “Avram Iancu” in Ştei, Ela Rose moved to Bucharest and studied journalism at a private university while continuing her singing career. At the end of 2010 she released her second single, No You, No Love, created with DJ Gino Manzotti (DJ Project) and Adi Colceru (David Deejay). She also collaborated with Alex Velea on No You, No Love (2010).
In spring 2011 she released her third official single, Lovely Words. The song achieved strong success outside Romania, especially in Greece, Bulgaria and Serbia, reaching high chart positions. In Greece, Ela Rose and Lovely Words spent four consecutive weeks at No. 1 in Heat Radio’s Top 30; the video was filmed in summer 2011 on the Black Sea coast.
In April 2016, Ela Rose replaced Adela Popescu in DJ Project; together they released the single Sevraj. Over her career, she has been associated with labels such as Cat Music, Squad Music and Spinnin’ Records, and has worked with David Deejay, Gino Manzotti and DJ Project.
