DJ Antoine
Biography
Antoine Konrad, better known as DJ Antoine, is a Swiss house and electro DJ and producer, born on 23 June 1975 in Sissach.
After a ten-year career in Basel’s hip-hop scene, he was swept up by the house wave and devoted himself to it entirely. He made his mark on the Swiss dance scene in the late 1990s with mix albums such as The Pumpin’ House Mix (1997) and 12″ releases like Do It (1998), the latter produced in partnership with his friend and collaborator Mad Mark (Fabio Antoniali).
Phenomenal success arrived in 2000 with the mix album Houseworks 01, his first to enter the Swiss album charts, followed closely by Mainstation the same year. Thereafter his mixes and original productions regularly reached the Swiss Top 10, sometimes hitting number one.
DJ Antoine is regarded as an unparalleled phenomenon and the leading male DJ in Switzerland, with over 430,000 CDs sold and 12 gold records. His triumph at the Ericsson Dance Music Award in 2001 placed him among the world elite and made him highly sought after internationally.
With Mad Mark he has remixed countless international hits and collaborated with many famous artists such as Mary J. Blige, Cyndi Lauper, Puff Daddy and David Hasselhoff. His 2011 single Welcome to St. Tropez was a huge club hit with over one million copies sold. In 2015 he collaborated with Akon on the single Holiday.
He is also the founder of the successful labels Houseworks and Egoïste. Launched in 2000, Houseworks is known for staging glamorous events in Switzerland’s top clubs and internationally, targeting a stylish, party-oriented clientele; the label’s compilations have greatly contributed to its commercial success.
