Biography

The musical project Bobina is led by Bobina, also known by the stage name Zenon. A former member, Sergey Vinogradov, was associated with the project in the past. Based in Moscow, Bobina primarily operates in the realms of trance and progressive house, significantly contributing to the Russian electronic scene.

Bobina’s production career began in 2003. His debut album, ‘Catchy’, released in 2004, became the first electronic music album to reach number one on the charts in Russia. The single ‘Lazy World’ marked his international breakthrough. Under the alias Zenon, he achieved success with the vocal anthem ‘September Rain’, played by top DJs like Ferry Corsten and Paul Van Dyk.

His second album, ‘Beautiful Friend’ (2006), sold over 10,000 copies in its first week. He later released the albums ‘Again’ (2008), which became Russia’s best-selling and fastest-selling dance album at the time, and ‘Rocket Ride’ (2011), celebrating the 50th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin’s space flight. Singles like ‘Lighthouse’, ‘Slow’ (an electro-trance cover of Kylie Minogue), ‘Angel of the North’, and ‘You Belong To Me’ dominated airwaves and dancefloors.

As a DJ, Bobina is known for energetic sets blending vocal and instrumental trance. He has performed at major events like the Winter Music Conference, Trance Energy, Gatecrasher Summer Sound System, and Global Gathering. He was the first Russian DJ to feature in the DJ Mag Top 100 poll, remaining in the Top 50 for four consecutive years. He was also chosen by Tiësto to support his ‘In Concert’ tour.

Bobina is also an accomplished remixer, having reworked tracks for artists such as Paul Oakenfold, Armin Van Buuren, The Thrillseekers, and Supermode (Axwell & Steve Angello) for labels like Ministry of Sound, Perfecto, and Armada. His remix of ‘Angels‘ for Universal Music was the best-selling single in Russia in 2008.

Through his label World Club Music, he played a key role in promoting Russian albums by artists like Armin Van Buuren, Tiësto, and Above & Beyond. He also hosts the radio show ‘Russia Goes Clubbing’, broadcast on the DFM network and listened to by millions.

Ferry Corsten described Bobina as “one of the most talented music producers ever to come out of Russia”. His influence and productions continue to resonate within the international trance scene.
