Fred Falke

Biography

Fred Falke, born Frédérick Falke, is a French electronic music producer.

He first gained recognition by collaborating with Alan Braxe, the co-producer of Stardust, on a series of 12″ releases for the labels Vulture Music and Kitsuné. Their synth-pop-inspired track Rubicon (2003) became a hit. These tracks were compiled on Braxe’s 2005 album The Upper Cuts. The duo became highly sought-after for remixes, creating versions for Death from Above 1979, Kelis, Goldfrapp, Röyksopp, Justice, and many others until their partnership ended in 2008.

Fred Falke also worked with German house producer Kris Menace, remixing his single Missile Test in 2004 (as the duo Menace & Adam) and appearing on his track Fairlight in 2006. He released a few solo singles and EPs, starting with Omega Man in 2006, and most of these tracks were gathered on his first full-length album Part IV in 2011, released through Kris Menace’s label Work It Baby.

His career as a remixer and producer is far more prolific than his solo career. He brought fluid disco guitars and electro-house rhythms to tracks by a wide variety of pop, rock, R&B, and dance artists, from Hot Chip and VHS or Beta to Ke$ha, Sia, Katy Perry, and Lana Del Rey. He also co-wrote and produced songs for several British pop stars, including Ellie Goulding, Florrie, and Will Young.

Fred Falke started as a bassist around 1995 before turning to production in the late 1990s. His first record, a collaboration with Alan Braxe titled Intro which sampled The Jets’ 1987 hit Crush On You, was released in 2000 on Vulture Music. He also collaborated on other productions with artists such as Savage, Miami Horror, and Knightlife.

He is now a highly in-demand remixer in his own right and has reworked songs by artists as diverse as Little Boots, Gossip, U2, Annie, Grizzly Bear, Ladyhawke, Lykke LI, La Roux among many others. He also worked with Xenomania.

His style is associated with house, French house, nu disco, funky house, disco house, synthpop, and synthwave.
