Da Fleiva

Da Fleiva

Biography

Da Fleiva is the stage name of Flavius Filipescu, who also uses the name Cally Roda for some productions. Born in 1991 in Botoșani, he says he has “traveled all over the country.” He first performed on stage at the age of 4 on the well-known children’s TV show “Tip Top Minitop,” where he stated he had an innate musical gift not inherited from his family.

By 11, he already knew chords and notes without any formal musical training. At 14, he drew attention at the end-of-year school parties in Botoșani, presenting his first signed original composition, in the then-popular rap and hip-hop style.

At 17, without support from his family, he left for Timișoara. There he collaborated with a wide range of artists, producing music performed by well-known names in Romanian showbiz and aligned with what audiences expected at the time.

His personal life later took him to Iași, his wife’s hometown, where he continued working independently. A year later he met Adi Jara from ImpactFM, who connected him with Bogdan Niță, a manager from Bacău who worked with artists such as Lara, DJ Dark, Alessia and Mark Ryan. As he was preparing to work in production for a Bucharest label, he met Ionuț Bejinariu from Suceava, the head of JHAPS, described as the city’s only production company.

His work was also recognized locally in Suceava through his collaboration with the first JHAPS group, Deepsystem, with whom he composed Arabesque. After the JHAPS studio opened in Suceava, he also collaborated with Bijue and released What you gonna do?, which quickly entered international charts and achieved real success in Albania, Bulgaria, Belgium, Croatia and Ukraine.

Da Fleiva has collaborated and composed music for artists such as Sonny Flame, DJ Robert Georgescu & Lara, Jimmy Dub, Toniq, Deepsystem, J-OH, Irina Pop, Nick Kamarera, DJ Big Ice and Connect-R, among other major names.
