T Seven

Biography

T-Seven is the stage name of German artist Judith Hinkelmann (also known as Judith Buthmann), born on 26 October 1976 in Bremen. She is also known by the stage name Judith Hildebrandt, which she uses, among other things, to host the radio show “Soundcheck” on Energy Bremen.

She started dancing at a very young age, following in the footsteps of her mother, a classical ballet dancer, and was accepted into the Royal Academy of Dance at the age of five. She later also studied Latin and ballroom dances.

At 14, she achieved her first success as a dancer in the techno project Satellite 1, created and produced by DJs Jens Neumann and Kai Matthiesen. Alongside dancer Daniela Haak and a rapper, the project performed in clubs across Germany. The track “Enterprise Techno” was used in Star Trek trailers broadcast on Sat.1 in 1991, and the following single “Young Indy” became the theme song for The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles (Sat.1, 1992).

After two years, the project was restructured, brought in rapper Sir Prophet, and was renamed Mr. President. T-Seven began taking singing lessons and, after a soundcheck where her rendition of “Tom’s Diner” by Suzanne Vega was warmly received, she became Mr. President’s lead singer. Following their first chart success in 1994, Sir Prophet left due to internal disagreements and was quickly replaced by rapper Lazy Dee. With Mr. President, T-Seven sold millions of records and received numerous music awards and honors.

In June 1998, T-Seven and fellow group member Danii appeared on the cover of the German edition of Playboy.

After the album “Space Gate”, T-Seven left Mr. President in February 2000 to pursue a solo career. In March 2000, she released the single “Ohne dich (schlaf ich heut Nacht nicht ein)” in collaboration with Marvin McKay. In March 2001, her first solo single “Hey Mr. President”, produced by Thomas Anders, was released, followed by “Passion” (September 2001) and “Copa Cabana” (2003).

At IFA 2006, she released a reinterpretation of “Let the Music Play” with the music project Lunanova.

Since 2006, she has worked as a radio host at Energy Bremen. In 2011, she appeared in an episode of The Perfect Celebrity Dinner.

In 2010, under the name Judy & The Fish Town Cowboys, a country version of “How Much Is the Fish?” by Scooter was released. Since 2014, she has performed acoustic versions of 1990s hits at her concerts.

In 2023, she worked as a horse trainer and riding instructor.
