Swedish House Mafia

Biography

Swedish House Mafia are a house music supergroup made up of DJs/producers Axwell, Steve Angello, and Sebastian Ingrosso. Producer Eric Prydz was also part of the group for a while before leaving Sweden.

The name “Swedish House Mafia” appeared around 2003, and the group officially formed in late 2008. Their breakthrough performance took place on 12 August 2008 at Cream Amnesia in Ibiza. They released Leave The World Behind in 2009, but it was credited to the individual artists. The first single officially credited to Swedish House Mafia was One (also known as “One (Your Name)” with Pharrell Williams) in 2010, which became an international hit.

The next single was Save The World, featuring vocals by fellow Swede John Martin. Their last major hit before the split was Don't You Worry Child, which reached number one in the UK.

On 24 June 2012, the group announced their breakup following a final tour, which concluded at the Ultra Music Festival in Miami on 24 March 2013. They reunited unexpectedly to close the Ultra Music Festival in Miami on 25 March 2018, announcing they were back “for life this time.” They then announced shows in Stockholm in May 2019 to launch their “Save The World” tour and confirmed they were working on new music. The group made their return official with the release of the single It Gets Better in 2021.
