Play and Win

Biography

Play & Win is a Romanian electronic music production group and collective from Alba Iulia, based in Constanța. Composed of Sebastian Barac (frontman), Marcel Botezan and Radu Bolfea (backing vocalists), the trio is considered one of the country’s most important producers and is credited with over 300 songs registered with the Union of Romanian Composers.

Their production career began in 2005 with the single Kylie by Akcent, which became a European hit (top 5 in Belgium, Sweden, Norway, Poland, Russia, Ukraine and Turkey; No.1 in the Netherlands, Finland and Romania). They went on to collaborate extensively with Romanian artists, notably with Activ on Superstar, Dor, Heaven and Lucruri Simple, as well as with 3rei Sud Est, Sistem and Andra (on We Go Crazy).

They composed Sunny Days for Zero, which finished second in Romania’s selection for Eurovision 2009. Play & Win is especially known for launching or contributing to the success of Inna, Morris and Bob Taylor: they fully produced Inna’s debut album Hot, which includes international hits such as Hot, Love, Déjà Vu, Amazing and 10 Minutes. For Déjà Vu they collaborated with DJ Bogdan Croitoru (alias Bob Taylor); the track reached No.1 in Romania, Bulgaria, Russia, Hungary and France. They also produced Desire by Morris, which reached No.5 on Kiss FM’s Fresh Top 40.

Alongside their production work, the trio pursue a performing career: they debuted in 2009 with the single Slow Motion, which reached No.1 on Kiss FM’s Fresh Top 40 and became one of the spring hits in Romania.
