Na Na
Biography
Na Na is the stage name of Nana Hedin, also known as Nana D'Aquini.
Nana Hedin Pranschke, born 24 May 1968 in Eskilstuna (Södermanland), Sweden, began her career in the late 1980s at Cheiron Studios in Stockholm alongside producers Denniz Pop, Max Martin and Kristian Lundin.
She recorded backing vocals for artists such as Celine Dion, Britney Spears, Gary Barlow, Ace of Base, Aqua and others.
She also provided lead vocals for Swedish artists, notably on Look Who's Talking (Dr. Alban), on Here We Go and the Supermarket album (1993) (Stakka Bo), as well as for Alrabaiye (Amadin) and Wake Up (Flexx).
In 2000 she released the single Fame 2000 under the name NaNa D'Aquini on the Danish label Merlin / Playground Scandinavia: a cover of Fame by Irene Cara, with a video shot in Las Vegas and several remixes.
She entered Melodifestivalen 2005 with Wherever You Go and performed between 1993 and 2003 as a ‘Primadonna’ on tours and in theaters with comedian and writer Jonas Gardell.
She is best known for singing the chorus on most of E-Type‘s albums between 1994 and 2004, on hits such as Set the World on Fire, This Is the Way, Angels Crying and Here I Go Again; their last collaboration was Paradise (2004), entered in Melodifestivalen 2004. On stage and in some videos Dilnarin 'Dee' Demirbag often lip-synced to her voice, while Hedin appears in the videos for Set the World on Fire, Life and Paradise.
In August 2009 she was diagnosed with tongue cancer after several misdiagnoses in 2008: the tumor was stage 4 when correctly diagnosed and she underwent extensive radiotherapy, which has prevented her from performing since. In 2014 she developed osteoradionecrosis due to the radiotherapy; Swedish surgeons proposed complete jaw reconstruction and judged she would never sing again. She sought second opinions internationally and in 2022 the Swedish nonprofit M.A.S. launched the fundraiser ‘Save NaNa’s Voice 2022’ to finance her travel to India for reconstructive jaw surgery.
