N-Trance

Biography

N-Trance is a British eclectic electronic music group formed in 1990 in Oldham, England, by sound engineers Dale Longworth and Kevin O'Toole. After producing instrumental dance music under various names, they settled definitively on N-Trance.

Their breakthrough in the European dance scene was mainly due to the single Set You Free, released in early 1993 on the All Around the World label, which introduced singer Kelly Llorenna and rapper T-1K. After a modest initial entry in the UK charts, the track was reissued in 1994 and again in 1995, eventually reaching number 2 and becoming the best-selling dance single in the UK in 1995 with over 600,000 copies sold.

The group also became known for theatrical live shows featuring dancers and flame throwers. Their success continued with tracks such as Turn Up the Power, performed by Loveland singer Rachel McFarlane, and especially their surprise cover of the Bee Gees classic Stayin' Alive, which became a huge international hit.

Their debut album, Electronic Pleasure, released in November 1995, reflects their musical range (rap, disco, etc.) and features many collaborators, including David Grant, Vinny Burns, Snake Davis, rapper Ricardo Lyte (aka Ricardo Da Force) and Viveen Wray.
