Morandi

Morandi

Biography

Morandi is a dance project formed by Romanian composers Marius Moga (aka MaxiMo) and Andréi Ropcea (aka Randi). The name “Morandi” merges the first two letters of “Moga” with Ropcea’s nickname “Randi”; Ropcea is also the lead singer and the main onstage figure.

The project started out quietly, yet the album “Reverse” (2005) became a major success. The single Love Me quickly topped Romanian charts, sparking curiosity about who was behind the music. The mystery was revealed with the hit Beijo (Uh la la) and the group’s first public appearance at the MTV Romanian Music Awards that same year.

The second album, “Mind Fields,” continued in the same direction and stood out with tracks such as Falling Asleep and A La Lujeba. In 2008, their third release “N3xt” arrived, featuring singles Afrika and Angels.

A fourth album, “Zebra,” has been in preparation for several years. Three singles have already been taken from it: Colors (2009), Rock The World (2010) and Midnight Train (2011). Onstage, Morandi can include up to thirteen members—six musicians plus dancers—and the project performs regularly even without Marius Moga, with Randi leading the front line.
