Biography

Mike Posner, born Michael Robert Henrion Posner, is an American singer and producer born on February 12, 1988, in Southfield, Michigan.

He launched his music career with the mixtape Reflections of a Lost Teen in 2006. His work gained visibility with the following mixtapes, A Matter of Time and One Foot Out the Door. His first mixtape, A Matter of Time, produced in collaboration with Don Cannon and DJ Benzi, was released in early 2009.

In July 2009, Mike Posner signed a major deal with J Records, a subsidiary of RCA/Sony. His debut studio album, 31 Minutes to Takeoff, was released on August 10, 2010. He graduated from Duke University in December 2009 with a BA in Sociology and Business.

Over his career he has collaborated with several artists, notably rapper Big Sean, a close friend, as well as Kid Cudi, Wale, Bun B, One Be Lo, Eric Holljes and 3OH!3.

His single I Took a Pill in Ibiza, released during his comeback in 2015–2016, reached the Top 10 in dozens of countries. Later, in 2021, his 2010 track Please Don't Go went viral on TikTok.
