Loft

Biography

Loft is a German eurodance group whose name is an acronym for “Live Our Fathers’ Teaching”. The project consisted of Courtney Dean, St. Patrick Williams and Richard Wayne Williams, also known as Ranking Richie. Production was handled by Michael Eisele and Dietmar Stehle under the name DMP, who were also behind the Captain Hollywood Project.

The group found success in the 1990s with a run of singles. The first, “Summer Summer” (1993), performed by vocalist Gina Mohammed, became a hit in Europe and Canada. It was followed by “Hold On“, sung by Kim Sanders, which gained wide attention; its melody was later reused by Fun Factory for their own hit “Close To You” in 1994.

Other singles such as “Love Is Magic” and “Wake the World” cemented their popularity and led to the release of their debut album, “Wake the World“, in 1994, featuring additional vocals by Lori Glori. A second album, “Future World”, followed in 1995 with Sandra Steinborn and Christiane Eiben on vocals. Their last single produced by the original team was “Mallorca” in 1996.

Loft returned in the 2000s with a remix of “Summer Summer” in 2004, then the singles “Still No 1” and “Love Can't Be Wrong” in 2005, the latter featuring a new vocalist named Sue and produced by Andreas Hüging and Michael Abbing.
