Captain Hollywood Project

Captain Hollywood Project

Biography

Captain Hollywood Project is a German eurodance musical project formed in 1990 in Nuremberg by American rapper, singer, dancer and producer Tony Dawson-Harrison, also known as Captain Hollywood.

The project name was chosen to distinguish this new music from Harrison’s earlier work and to give him creative freedom as executive producer, allowing him to involve different singers, songwriters and producers on each track.

Although often perceived as a one-man act with Harrison as frontman, the project traditionally included a cohort of backing vocalists and female dancers as well as accompanying musicians; members and collaborators have included Kim Sanders, Thorsten Adler, Nance, Giora Schein, Tom Keil, Nosie Katzmann, Michael Eisele, Frank Schlingloff, Marc Kamradt and Nina Gerhard.

The project is best known for its notable 1990s crossover hits such as More and More, Only with You and Flying High; at its peak it placed ten singles in the Top 20 of the European charts.

The project released several studio albums, including Love Is Not Sex (1993), Animals or Human (1995) and The Afterparty (1996).

Today Captain Hollywood Project is presented as a live performance duo composed of Tony Dawson-Harrison and singer-dancer Shirin von Gehlen, also known as Shirin Amour, the project’s new lead vocalist; with their live musicians and dancers they perform the project’s hits in concert venues worldwide, notably in the United States, Canada, South America, Europe, Russia and Australia.
