
Gene Noble
Biography
Gene Noble is the stage name of James Eugene Roston III. An American singer-songwriter based between New York and Los Angeles, he is best known for the track Only Love, which received international radio play.
He has written for artists including Jason Derulo, Chris Brown, Faith Evans, Usher, CeeLo Green, Jay Z, Alicia Keys, John Legend and Diddy.
Born in Manhattan, Kansas, he grew up traveling with his father who served in the US military. After his father died in 1986 when Noble was four, he moved to Long Island with his mother and brother. A year later he began playing piano and writing poetry; inspired by DEEJAY FAMILY and D’Angelo, he pursued a career in music.
On March 4, 2014 he released his debut EP Rebirth of Gene and later recorded a cover of Say Something.
His releases include Money Over Bullshit, Trust (2015) and the single Never Know (October 6, 2017). In 2017 he issued Stolen Moments, featuring LaChardon, which appears on his debut studio album The Cost.
In 2019 he appeared with Sting and Shaggy on NPR’s Tiny Desk series; his vocal parts are prominent on the final track, a mashup of Shape of My Heart and Lucid Dreams.
