Biography

Eva Simons, full name Eva Maria Simons, is a singer and singer-songwriter born on April 27, 1984. She grew up in a family of musicians: her father is a pianist, her stepfather a trumpeter, her mother the singer Ingrid Simons and her grandfather the renowned accordionist Johnny Meijer, honoured with a statue in Amsterdam.

Trained in piano and composition from childhood, she is a graduate of the Conservatorium of Amsterdam. Her career began in 2001 when she joined the band Cooper, formed by the Klubbheads. In 2004, she auditioned for the Dutch television show *Popstars: The Rivals* and joined the girl group ‘Raffish’, with whom she achieved a number one hit in the Netherlands with the song Plaything. Raffish released the album *How Raffish Are You?* and two other singles, Thursday´s Child and Let Go, before she left the group in 2005 to pursue a solo career.

In May 2009, she had a major online success with the electro-pop song Silly Boy, which reached over 10 million views on YouTube and gained her a large fan community. Billy Mann, president of New Music International, stated: “Eva has taken the internet by storm and she already has a huge fan base waiting for more. ‘Silly Boy’ captures her fabulous energy and the strength of her personality.”

From 2010 onwards, she collaborated with several figures from the electronic scene, such as Afrojack, Will.I. Am and Sidney Samson. She also uses the alias Eve (15) for some of her musical projects.
