D.O.N.S.

Biography

D.O.N.S. is a German DJ and producer duo formed in 1997, originally consisting of Oliver Goedicke and Nils Karsten. The project’s official name is Oliver Goedicke & Nils Karsten. Andreas Bruhn was also a past member. Currently, the project is mainly carried by Karl Oliver Goedicke.

The adventure began in 1996 when Ollie Goedicke started composing. His first demos caught the attention of an A&R in July 1996, who asked him to rework a track for a house compilation. Ollie agreed and delivered the revised version the next day, creating the name D.O.N.S. in five minutes, its meaning remaining secret.

This first track, Drop The Gun, became his first single. It was a club hit, charting in Germany, signed to AM:PM Records, and the first release on Kontor Records, which became its base.

After international recognition with the Warp Brothers, Ollie Goedicke revived D.O.N.S. by producing the remake of Pump Up The Jam, a 1997 dance hit, which saw a global resurgence eight years later.

Initially oriented towards hard dance and trance, D.O.N.S. evolved into a house style. The new single, with a remix by Kurt Maverick, was supported by DJs like Roger Sanchez, David Morales, David Guetta, Pete Tong, and Eric Morillo. Signed to MoS in the UK and Ultra in the US, its release was scheduled for late summer 2005.

The project is also known as D. O. N. S., DONS, Design O.N. Sound, The D.O.N.S., or The Dons. Its genres are house, dance, techno, electronic, and vocal house.
