Biography

Florentina Cătălina Ciună, known as Caitlyn, was born on 8 August 1988 in Budești, Romania. Passionate about music from a young age, she began vocal lessons at 12 at the Cercle de Musique Légère « Armonia » in Bucharest, took part in many children’s festivals and wrote her first songs. In 2005 she joined the company « Dorian’s Art » to train in singing, theatre and dance, winning several prizes at national festivals.

In 2007 she became the female voice of the group Chicanos and recorded the singles Maleya and Suki Suki. Maleya enjoyed strong radio success in Romania and abroad, leading to a national tour. In 2008 she performed at the international Cerbul de Aur festival, sharing the stage with international artists.

Between 2010 and 2011 she was the voice of the TV show Land of Jokes on Pro TV, where she performed musical parodies.

Her solo career as Caitlyn truly began in 2011 with the single Una Noche Mas, produced by Deepside Deejays. This led her to meet DJ and producer Emil Lassaria, with whom she formed a fruitful artistic partnership. Their first joint single, Tu Amor (2012), was an international hit with tens of millions of views and reached number one in several European and North African countries. The duo followed with Latin-influenced dance hits such as Guantanamera, Dejame, Fiesta (2013) and Baila (2014).

In 2014, still with Emil Lassaria, she contributed to the EDM album Read My Lips, released by Roton Music. The year 2015 saw the success of the single El Calor, which reached number one in Poland and Serbia. She also collaborated with F. Charm on Nu iese fum fără foc, which had significant online reach, and took part in Vocea României, reaching the semifinals.

In 2016 the duo moved away from the Latin style with the single Summer Sun, widely played on radio. Caitlyn explored new collaborations, working with LLP on Africa and again with F. Charm on Caz real, and released her first Romanian solo single, Ana și Manole.

In early 2017 she began a new solo phase with the single Arrivé, which received heavy rotation on Fun Radio in France and other specialist stations. She then appeared on the TV show ZaZa Sing. Her 2017 releases include What Can I Do and a renewed collaboration with Emil Lassaria, Dansando.

Throughout her career Caitlyn has established herself as a major figure on the Romanian and international dance scene, thanks to catchy melodies and successful collaborations.
