Biography
AMI, whose real name is Andréa Ioana Moldovan, is a Romanian singer and songwriter born on September 28, 1989, in Baia Mare. She gained recognition in the electronic and dance music scene in 2012 with her single Trumpet Lights, a collaboration with producer David Deejay.
From the age of three, AMI showed an early talent for music, winning her first local competition with the song “Un actor.” She studied violin for twelve years and attended courses at the Children’s Palace in Baia Mare, participating in numerous national and international festivals. After obtaining her baccalaureate, she moved to Bucharest to study at the National University of Music, specializing in jazz composition and light music.
In 2009, she joined the vocal group of Paula Seling and participated in the first season of the talent show X Factor on Antena 1 in 2011. Her first single, Trumpet Lights, was released in August 2012 and reached third place in the Romanian Top Airplay 100. The music video was produced by Vali Bărbulescu and the VB Visuals team.
In 2013, AMI collaborated with Grasu XXL on the track Déjà Vu, which became a hit in Romania and marked a turning point in her career. This song, her first in Romanian, topped the charts and earned her four awards at the Media Music Awards in 2014.
AMI also expanded her career by participating in reality TV shows such as Ferma vedetelor on Pro TV in 2016 and Exatlon Romania on Kanal D in 2019. In 2019, she co-wrote the first single for Roxen, Ce-ți cântă dragostea, which became a success in 2020 by reaching the top of the Top Airplay 100.
The year 2020 was marked by several collaborations, including with BUG Mafia on 8 zile din 7, Killa Fonic on Antidot, Mark Stam on Ca să fii fericit, and Florian Rus on Regrete. That same year, she won the fifteenth season of the show Te cunosc de undeva ! on Antena 1 and voiced a character in the animated film Scoob !.
In 2021, AMI released Enigma, a collaboration with Tata Vlad from BUG Mafia, which reached third place in the Top Airplay 100 and stayed in the Top 10 for twelve weeks. This track announced her first album of the same name. In 2022, she collaborated with Sasha Lopez on Butterfly Dance.
On October 6, 2023, AMI presented Nostalgia, a song whose music was composed by David Deejay and herself, while the lyrics were written by AMI and Florian Rus.
