Biography
Alcazar is a Swedish Eurodance and pop group formed in 1998.
The trio consists of Andreas Lundstedt, Lina Hedlund and Therese "Tess" Merkel; former members Annika Kjærgaard and Magnus Carlsson left the lineup in 2005.
Since their first single in 1999, Alcazar has become one of Sweden’s most popular acts in the genre, with 13 songs charting in the Swedish top 40, including 2 number ones and 8 top 10 hits.
The group competed five times in Melodifestivalen (the Swedish selection for Eurovision), with the songs Not a Sinner, Nor a Saint (2003), Alcastar (2005), Stay the Night (2009), Headlines (2010) and Blame It On The Disco (2014).
In July 2007 the group reformed for a concert at London’s Astoria as part of a celebration of Swedish music organized by producer Alexander Bard, known for Army of Lovers. A hiatus was announced in August 2011; the group’s official return was announced at the end of 2013, ahead of Melodifestivalen 2014.
Over their career Alcazar released three studio albums and one compilation.
