Biography

DVBBS is a Canadian electronic music duo from Orangeville, based in Toronto, formed in 2012. The group is made up of brothers Christopher van den Hoef (Chris Chronicles, born January 1, 1990) and Alexandre van den Hoef (Alex Andre, born October 17, 1991).

Often described as electro house, big room, slap house, or more broadly EDM, their sound quickly helped them build a loyal fanbase. They write and produce high-energy tracks designed to ignite dancefloors.

Their career took off after the release of their EP “Initio” in March 2012. The following year, they scored a major international breakthrough with Tsunami. The vocal version, Tsunami (Jump) featuring Tinie Tempah, reached No. 1 on both the UK Singles Chart and the UK Dance Chart, making DVBBS one of the few Canadian acts to achieve that feat.

Their catalog includes multiple platinum-certified hits such as Tinted Eyes, West Coast, IDWK, and Not Going Home, the latter of which received a Juno Awards nomination. Overall, the duo has amassed twelve platinum-certified singles, billions of streams, and several Juno Awards nominations.

They have also won two EMPO Awards (Best New Artist and Best Dance Act) and received SOCAN Awards for their success as artists, producers, and songwriters. On Beatport, they have topped the charts with five tracks, and their productions have been remixed by icons such as Tiësto and Major Lazer.

Their collaborations span a wide range of artists, including Blackbear, Martin Garrix, Wiz Khalifa, Kane Brown, Galantis, Quinn XCII, Aloe Blacc, Benny Benassi, Steve Aoki, 2 Chainz, Roy Woods, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Juicy J, Jeremih, Tyga, and Belly.

On stage, DVBBS has extensive touring experience, with more than a thousand shows played in over seventy-five countries. They have headlined major international festivals such as Lollapalooza, Tomorrowland, EDC, Ultra Music Festival, and Creamfields.

After releases on major labels including Universal, Atlantic, Spinnin’, and Ultra, the duo launched its own label and publishing company, Kanary Records, marking a new chapter in their career.
