Biography

Gabriella Michelle Henderson, known professionally as Ella Henderson, is a British singer-songwriter born on 12 January 1996 in Lincolnshire, England.

She became known as a finalist on the ninth series of The X Factor in 2012, finishing sixth despite being a strong favorite; that exposure led to a recording contract with Syco Music.

Among her influences she cites admiration for Amy Winehouse and Frank Sinatra, has expressed appreciation for former contestants like Olly Murs and Leona Lewis, and has said she would like to sing with Adele or Beyoncé.

Her recording career began with the single “Ghost”, co-written with Ryan Tedder, released on 8 June 2014 and immediately reaching number one in the UK. She followed with the second single “Glow” on 5 October 2014; her debut album, Chapter One, was released on 13 October 2014.
