Biography

Vassy, born Vasiliki Karagiorgos, is a Greek-Australian singer, songwriter and producer, born 18 February 1983 in Darwin.

Raised in the tropics, she has been singing since the age of three. Her international career and diverse influences have shaped a distinctive sound, style and energy. She has written songs for other artists as well as for television and film projects.

Her music has been featured in numerous productions: the TV series Grey’s Anatomy, Ugly Betty, Windfall, Notes from the Underbelly, In The Motherhood and Drop Dead Diva; the films Last Holiday and Powder Blue; the trailer for When in Rome; the video games FIFA and The Sims; and advertising campaigns for Sprite and Hilton Hotels.

She has worked with notable producers and remixers including Richard Vission, Chico Bennett, Camara Kambon and Track n Field. Her single History was released on Ultra Records with a music video. Her debut album, My Affection, was nominated for Best R&B Album in Australia. The single Cover You in Kisses was included on the Ministry of Sound Chillout Sessions compilation.

On stage, Vassy performed before 80,000 people at the Celebrate Australia Day concert and headlined the UK summer tour Skate Almighty, sponsored by NOKIA.

Known for her philanthropic work, she served as a youth ambassador for Australia Carers, an organisation supporting young carers. She led music workshops in remote areas of Australia and in New Caledonia, including Indigenous communities and detention centres, and collaborated with Apl.de.Ap of the Black Eyed Peas to support charities and local Australian communities.
